Employability and Innovation – Key Elements of South Lanarkshire College’s Success

newimage1What a fantastic building! That was the verdict after Margaret visited the new South Lanarkshire College and was taken on a guided tour by the Chairman of the Board of Management, Ian MacPherson and the Principal Stewart McKillop.

Although it was the Easter holidays, the college was still buzzing with students preparing for their exams. I couldn’t fail to be impressed by the facilities in the college which help quip young people and those (many of whom have been made redundant) retraining with the skills they require to seek a variety of employment from gas engineers, plumbers, construction work, hairdressing and cooking.

Significantly the college was built within budget and on time providing and as such provides an excellent example of how projects should be delivered. The varied work, which is geared to employment, being carried out at the college is impressive. All in all an extremely worthwhile visit!
